One of my staples for Chinese take-out and is very consistent. My only complaint and it's a very small one, at least not big enough for me not to eat there regularly, is the fortune cookies. Sometimes I get one sometimes I don't, and when I do they are usually stale. But overall I have a very good, tasty experience every time I go there. Let me pass along a few tips when calling in. Look up the menu before you call, know what you want (I mean come on its a Chinese restaurant who doesn't always order the same thing), and have your $hit together. I've read some reviews that complain about the customer service, I'm assuming these people consistently get bad customer service where ever they go because they are simply bad customers. I've never have had issue and it takes me all of about 15 seconds to order. Get some Flaming Wok in your mouth you won't regret it!

Yikes, I just realized that I haven't written a review for my favorite Chinese take-out restaurant East of the Cooper River. I've always enjoyed my menu selections at the Flaming Wok and my take-out order, today, was no exception; however, I do have a confession ... I always order the same 2 items! After a warm greeting from Natalie, Tom (her husband) chimed in, then asked, "House Chow Mein, steamed, with no sauce, right?" "Correct," I replied, then I added a small hot and sour soup to my take out order. ($4.75 and $1.75, respectively). As I was settling in to wait for my order, I couldn't help but notice the clean, shiny tables. By the time I snapped and posted two photos on Yelp! my order was ready. Wow! I was in and out in under 10 minutes ... and man, the bag was really heavy! How was the food? Look at my photo! OK ... it may not appeal to you, but, I'm struggling with my weight right now (I've gained 30 lbs. since moving to Chucktown) and this simple, clean preparation got me through another meal. And, in case you're wondering, I didn't pass on the bag of yummy noodles ... I really did give them to my hub. (BTW, the soup was perfect, too ... lots of goodies and a tasty broth.) It's nice to have a local take-out restaurant that may not know my name, but, they always know my order. Cheers!

Great tasting food. The best Chinese restaurant in all of Mt. PLEASANT, SC!!! The Vegetables are always fresh, crunchy and Crispy (never limp and wilted). The owners are wonderful, sweet, and polite. THE ATMOSPHERE is clean and in a great location.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced! The OWNER hung up on me and said she did not care about my thoughts. I cannot believe they are still in business. I never complain but this woman is seriously upset with her life choices. Severely offended.

I eat here once a week. Usually lunch. Great value and honestly good take out Chinese. Sauces are great, not your standard "picture menu" Chinese. I've only ever seen the owners there working...and they're great. I appreciate small local family owned businesses and love to support them. Schewan wontons, general tso, garlic shrimp, Kung pao. All good.

Took over an hour to deliver about a mile away. Don't get hot and sour soup or garlic chicken. That's all I got and it was awful. The fortune cookie was stale.

This is the best Chinese food I've had in the Charleston area! It's a small place but always very clean, and owners Tom and Natalie are friendly and accommodating. The food is always terrific, tasty, and fresh! Unlike a previous review I actually find that the food is NOT over-salted, and here's a tip for the nutritionally sensitive like myself...they have GLUTEN FREE soy sauce! Just ask for your food to be made with it and they will accommodate you. I have recommended many friends to Flaming Wok and they always agree that the food is among the best they have had!

Quick, inexpensive and delicious. What more could you want from a takeout Chinese food joint? Their combos are the best, and come with an egg roll and fried rice.

The first few times the food was amazing and the best Chinese I have had in a long time. However, since thing the quality has been inconsistent at best.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. The previous reviews were mixed and I was having a hard time finding good Chinese in the area. I chose to try the cheese crab wontons, the BBQ spare ribs and the general tsos chicken combination platter. The crab wontons were alright. Not my favorite but thought it was great that I got 10 for such a low price. The spare ribs were much better, I loved the sauce and they had a good amount if meat on them. The general tsos chicken was absolutely amazing. I was so happy, it was exactly what I wanted. I ordered it mild because I don't do spicy things very well. It was a very large portion and came with delicious fried rice and broccoli. It was so much food for only 20 dollars! I wish I had a larger stomach so I could eat it all in one sitting. The spring roll it came with (part of the combo) was very large and fresh. Spring rolls aren't my favorite but I thought it was pretty good. I will absolutely go back to this place. I am so happy about my dinner!

Terrible. Food was cold, lo mein was so over salted we didn't even eat it, and the crunchy noodles for soup were WAY beyond stale. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
